Mk1 gti Wont start 😢

Ok so i have a mk1 golf gti 1.8 1987 cabriolet and i really need help.

I was out for a drive and this is my daily so has been in constant use. Then it just stopped running and then would not start running again. Like it was fuel starved. I have no metering equipmemt. But both pumps arr running. Fuel is getting to the plugs as they smell of fuel when cranked a bit. Relay checked and works fine. I have checked all fuses. New starter as it was a bit weak anyway. Checked all connections i can think of. And really dont know what to check next. Pls if someone could help it would be greatly appreciated

So it turns over, runs for a second then dies i am totally baffled. Tia
