Mk1 GTI tintop clutch pedal rubber stop

Post

I got the above part from Heritage and i've read a couple of helpful posts but i can't quite tell a) if its deffo the right part and b) how i'm meant to get it on.

I think i can see it makes sense for it to go at the top of the metal pedal arm near the part with the extra tab with hole in it to prevent the pedal from keeping going up but its fiddly and access is really tricky.

Any help on orientation or tips would be awesome! thanks.

Weirdly now i look at the photo larger it looks like maybe the original rubber thing is actually on there and maybe the high clutch pedal isnt a result of that?

The original is there, they do wear after years of contact and you can see the groove in it. I think its just to stop metal to metal contact.  Incidentally the heritage picture is nothing like the original..
