MK1 CLIPPER SPEEDO CABLE DRIVE FITTING

Post

Hi all
I'm fitting a new speedo cable and having a problem fitting the red plastic drive cog onto the end of the cable. I also bought a replacement circlip to fit into the groove at the end of the cable fitting, but having done that,  the cable will no longer enter the drive cog - that is, the circlip is preventing me pushing it fully home into the cog.
I am obviously doing something wrong here and would be grateful for advice before I bodge things up! I know that the gap in the circlip needs to be at 180 degrees from the hole in the side of the cog.
Never thought this would be a problem, but there you are !!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Now sorted. Bit of grease (both elbow and lubricant) did the trick !!
