Mk1 Cabrio standard rear lights wiring

Post

Hi all

Car currently has aftermarket crystal clear lights on it.

Have bought a set of original rear lights.

Does anyone have a wiring guide for the original lights? Aftermarket have a wire to each bulb (coloured) and a black ground for each bulb. Nit quite sure how to connect all these up on all the old spade tabs on the original light set i have!

standard Cabriolets have a single ground wire attached to the common plate.
The the power to each bulb is colored.

yellow square is the common ground I usually runt it to a Bumper bolt for each side.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Thats great thanks - so with the yellow circled area, each light needs a seperate black ground?

Are the above diagram coloura correct for the car loom?

depends on which year you have.
The central plate is the ground for all bulbs, an you only need one ground wire tied to the bumper bolt.

The original configuration is that the left was tied to ground and the ground for the right came from the left.

Using a separate ground for the left and right makes it more reliable.
