MK1 Cabrio Instrument Cluster Repair

Post

Hi All,

I've just been driving a friends MK1 Gti Rivage and the instrument cluster is a right old mess. The MFA doesn't work, all the bulbs are out, and the rev counter isn't working either.

Back in the day when I was having problems with my Campaign instrument cluster, there used to be a company called Digi-Dash or something similar that would repair instrument clusters.

I can't seem to find anything about them now, so they have have gone out of business, but does anyone know of a person or company that can repair Mk1 instrument clusters?

Many thanks in advance

Scott

There's a few guides on here to repairing faulty instruments, most of the problems are earths on the car so your problem may not be the instruments but the wiring going to the instruments.

Briano1234 has some very good guides.

Hi,

Thanks for the info. I'll have a look around and see what I can correlate to the problems occurring.

Cheers

The main cause of alot of problems is the brown earth wire which fits to the engine rocker cover on the same bolt as the earth wire to the coil bracket, it on the back right hand side of the engine. Check the wire is there as normally it gets broken or is just hanging on by  few threads of wire.

The last thing you want is send the instruments away and then it comes back and you still have problems…
