I've seen conflicting information about the passenger side motor mount (this is an American model, so I'm talking about the right side) on the MK1 diesel Rabbit, so I want to get some other opinions. I believe this was installed upside down, but I want to be sure. This picture was taken from behind the motor mount, looking towards the front of the car. You can see the engine block on the left.

Yep. it appears to me to be the incorrect one as well.
If you look at the mount there is an rubber rounded arrow to tell you which way is up. The extra bit of rubber at the top is a part of the old mount and increases the longevity of the mount as well as when it does go bad it doesn't allow the engine to drop and screw with the transmission linkage as in it would bind.
