Hi all
Got a 91 sportline cab
Since getting it the MFA has never worked, checked ALL the earths, all ok, buzzed everything through inc the switch etc
Everything else on the clocks worked fine until a few days ago then suddenly whilst driving at around 50 mph, the rev counter went to full revs and stayed there for several miles then started working again
It did it again briefly on way home too
Got in it today and turned the key to position one ( not running ) and rev counter goes right round again and stays there
Any ideas ?

Splice a wire from the wire side of the main connector to pin 2 brown to ground drill a small pilot hoe between the X brace of the cluster..
Verify that you have between pin 14, 12Vdc or battery voltage with ignition on (not running) to Frame ground, then pin 2 and see if there is a difference if there is add the ground.
If your water temp and Fuel gauges are acting up, then change the 10V stabilizer.
Also take the nuts off the Tach, fuel and water gauges and polish the screws and nuts faces, as well as the mylar, I would only use contact cleaner or a BRAND NEW pencil eraser on the mylar.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.

I’ve done the about and the voltages were all fine but I added the additional earth anyway, cleaned contacts etc
Fuel / temp have always been ok
But still no mfa and rev counter still occasionally going to max for a while

make sure your ground from the valve cover to your coil bracket is still intact.

Before I did all this the mfa actually worked a couple of days ago for the first time but only briefly for about 2 miles then stopped
I’ve since done all the checks, earths, additional earth, reset fuse 3 out etc etc
Still nothing.
My rev counter has been ok since adding the earth and cleaning pins etc
But did do it again for about 10 mins today on a hour drive
Do you think it’s the actual clocks ?

Removed and cleaned up the rocker cover earth today and the mfa started working
Hour later went to the car, nothing, repeated the earth cleaning, tightening, both ends, re crimped the earth to the coil etc
Still nothing, I’m at a loss with this mfa now
Any more help much appreciated
