My car feels like it's ready to cut out, is my  idle too low?

Model and year along with engine and Fuel type would be well to know as well as 4-5spd or auto.

The "normal" idle for the 4-5spd is @ 760 RPM, whereas the Auto is @ 948rpm.

So I would first say look for vacuum leaks, and eliminate them.

Then worry about your idle as that could be a timing issue as well as a fuel issue… as in tweaking the idle by-pass on a CIS or DIGI ride, and the idle set on a carbed one.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Idle

I've just tweaked a little mate and it seems to of done the trick, it's a 88 gti cab manual, I had my timing belt changed a couple month back but I didn't have a working rev counter so they done it by ear but it seems to be fine now just adjusted it slightly
