Source a new mirror, or…
Carefully take the mirror off the latches and remove the glass from the holder.
Removing the Mirror assembly off the car, you can Press Tighten the Spring wedge that holds the tension of the flag to the body mount.
Don't have a great Picture of it

Where are my DIY Links?

Anyone managed to separate the mirror holding bit (plastic) from the metal bit that attaches it to the car?
Need to do that so I can re pain the metal bit - it's all gone flaky….
