1.8 GTI

I have recently got my 1.8 GTI tintop on the road after 2 years of it being sat in the garage, just the other day as i was driving it decided to pack up, i can select all gears but as i lift the clutch up there is no drive and it just makes a clunking noise, i am tied between gearbox or driveshafts spinning on the splines? any help would be apprectiated as i am struggling to find parts! mk1 golf night.jpg

Gearbox fault

I have never heard of driveshafts spinning. More chance the centre of the clutch stripped.

Could be a bust CVJ. If one goes, then the diff just spins and won't transmit power to the other wheel.
