Fuel filler pipe to tank hose

Post

OEM rubber?

I'm looking for the 'rubber' hose that fits between the metal fuel filler nexk pipe and petrol tank.

I've read that modern replacements are made from synthentic material with no flex or give and very difficult to fit. Anyone have experience of fitting these or where I can get a OEM spec rubber one???

Cheers :)

I wouldn't say there was much flex in an OEM one. Classic VW do a couple -  https://www.classic-vw.co.uk/filler-neck-components-353-c.asp

You could always try warming it up a bit with a heat gun to get some flex in it.

I've fitted a few and yes, they don't really flex much but a bit of WD40 always helps out. You could always heat it up too, I'd suggest 5 minutes in a pan of hot water (then dry it).

If anything, the ones you can get today are probably better than OEM.

Sort of update - ordered one from ebay last Weds aft, says despatched same day but then no futher uodates not in transit or anything!!!!!

The link from tnotty is BandB who say its obsolete.  :(

Easy to source internal diameter 40mm hose is EPDM radiator hose but thats not petrol proof…. the rest of the automotive world use narrow 6mm-@20mm fuel proof pipe nothing like 40mm

the boating world use 1.5 and 2 inch fuel pipes which has been converted to metric 38mm and 50mm, so I suspect everyone that can supply 40mm VW filler neck to tank rubber hoses are infact supplying 38mm which is why everyone comments its a complete twot to fit, esp getting it over the hump in the necks

Looks like the one I've bought, should have been with me Fri/Sat, still waiting and suspect its really a marine fuel 38mm one. Thanks anyway :)

Thanks to everyone for help, advice and suggestions. I have in my hand what claims to be a NOS item so hopefully back on the road soon......
