Fuel accumulater required for 1.8T conversion

Post

Hi guys can anyone help, I'm starting to put my mk1 back together after a full strip down, as you can imagine a lot of the stuff under the car has corroded and I just want to know if I can remove the fuel accumulater if I'm switching to a 1.8T? I want to remove as much stuff I can that will not effect the running of the car and would rather go without if possible?

Also can anyone also let me know if I can bin the brake regulator that sits at the back above the rear beam, I have the original 2 small valves that come off the MC that go to each rear drum. Please let me know.
Cheers guys.

You can dump the accumulator, k-jet requirement only,  not sure about the brake regulator, i plan to keep mine..not sure if you mean the residual valves or the things that i think cabriolets have.

If you have the proportional valves on the MC that go the rear wheel cylinders, I don't see any reason not to bin the Rear Proportional valves as they aren't connected to anything.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Thanks for clearing up the accumulater question, that saves a bit of money there and less mess, will the regular kjet fuel pump be good enough for the 1.8T?

With regards to the valves fitted near the MC, I think they are different to the cab ones. Can't find a new pressure regulator that fits at the back, however the new pre made brake lines I got from crazy quiffs are made to original spec, so I can either just join the pipes at the point where they would normally go to the regulator at the back or fit in pressure reg valves in place of the original valve, that way I can keep the pipes I have already. If I do this I would need to know what valves I could put in place of the original valve at the back.
Anyone know if the is an adjustable valve that allows 2 inputs and 2 outputs?
Thanks again

I believe the regular k-jet fuel pump will supply enough fuel, more than enough pressure. If keeping rear drums you need the residual valves (hexagon shaped things) remove them  if fitting rear discs. I do not know of any 2 in 2 out pressure regulators, would have one myself otherwise, i think its a matter of buying 2..

abfmk1, could you let me know what you have set up on yours with regards to the brake pressure regulator? Have you replaced your with 2 inline regulators at the back, and if so which ones did you go for?

I still have the original rear gti one .

Has anyone else done away with the rear brake pressure regulator? If so did you just join the brake lines together or put in different valves in place?
