Front indicator fault

Post

Morning all. Can anyone shed some light on why my front nearside indicator isn't flashing but the rear and side repeater flash rapidly.
The bulb and bulb holder are both good and the wiring from the lamp to the plug on the slam panel is all in order.
Electrics and me are not a good combination and a friend mentioned it could be a relay problem but I've come to a dead end here as my knowledge in this area is pretty phoeble.

Any help appreciated.

Front indicator fault

Have you tried swapping the LH and RH bulbs just to be certain it’s good? Failing that give all of the contacts a good clean with wire wool (again if you’ve done that already) - it sounds like bad contact or faulty bulb.
Is the earth good?

Hi Mike. Yep, swapped bulbs over but no joy. Have cleaned all contacts and the earth is sound.
Unfortunately thats the extent of my electrical knowledge.

Have you got OEM or aftermarket indicators?

I found when I fitted tinted ones that the plugs on the back didnt give a great connection into the factory wiring

Hi 1985. Indicators themself are Hella but i have fitted the tinted lenses on them so don't think that would cause it. Any thoughts on a dodgy relay as a friend suggested?

Thanks

personally I have never had a flasher unit go south.

I do know that I am anal about getting bulbs with Brass Bases versus the Steel Bases.  I have heard that they are spraying a coating of lacquer on the steel ones that may have to be sanded off to make good contact.

Most issues I have had are corroded or worn sockets.

In the HELP section of our parts stores here you can buy replacement sockets and springs to renew the internals.

I can remember on my 81 diesel that I ended up soldering new and taller pads on my sockets to make better contact… and using the Brass Based sockets on the bulbs.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.
