Finding the correct leads, dizzy cap and rotor?

Post

confused

Can someone help me order the correct items above. My cabby has developed as misfire and have read that replacing plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor is easy.

However trying to find the right parts has frustrated me since the Cabby was first registered in Feb 1985 with engine code FH104061. Which doesn't seem to help me when looking for parts distinguished by DX part numbers pre '84 and post '85?

Any help would be appreciated
Max

There is only 2 types of dissy cap and HT leads, ones with a pin and early cars had a plug type.

I recon you have the pin type cap (also know as sawn tooth) pull a hit lead off the cap and see what there.

I'll try and find a picture and post it up later tonight.

Ne Plugs come with the Tip on, they will not allow the High tension lead to engage.

You have to hold them with a plier and unscrew the tip.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Early dissy cap with a plug type ht leads.

Later type with sworn tooth/pin ht leads.

HT lead ends are like this for later type.

I always use Bosch stuff and code for the ht lead kit I use on my DX engine 1988 golf.

also just to add on the spark plug front, it depends on your leads if you need the nipples or not. some aftermarket leads need the nipple left on. but oem, bosch and beru leads need the nipples removed, which is all I would recommend you use.

Thanks for all the great replies guys!

I have bought all Beru parts from AVS and installed them, (after i returned the wrong leads i had bought from VW Heritage, doh) and the car runs better!

But it still has the same hesitation issue, so going to look at timing because i'm sure its not optimal.

Again, thanks for the help ;)
