Door check strap woes

Okay, I’m getting fed up with this project, and I’m about ready to give up and get the matches out!!

Does anyone know, What’s the fix for a broken check strap bracket? It’s impossible to get inside the a post and get behind it, I don’t see how it’s supposed to be fixed, I presume it’s welded and the welds have broke….

As far as I am aware there are 2 options.

One requires removing metal from the interior to get to the check strap - covered here by Melteddrummer:
