Distributor wiring 1.8 gti

I'm investigating a non start on my GTi and I'm having trouble making sense of the 3 wires running to the distributor for the hall effect.

Will someone please put me out of my misery or shoot me.

I have green and white to centre, brown and white to terminal 1 and red and black to terminal 3.

Only checking the voltage as per Haynes on T1 and T3, I'm getting 12v not 5.

I've seen wiring diagrams that have red/black going to centre and green/white going to 3 with brown/white pulling up the rear in slot 1, which makes more sense, as then I get around 6v.

Assuming k-jet the spark system wiring pretty simple, start at the TCI module in the scuttle:
1 - green or red/black - coil negative, pin 1 ir -
2 - brown or black/brown - battery negative
3 - brown/white - dizzy pin 1 or -
4 - black - coil positive, pin 15 or +
5 - red/black - dizzy pin 3 or +
6 - green/white - dizzy pin 2 or 0

I think 12v is actually correct for dizzy voltage in some cases?

Thank you for that. I've been ' tidying' the wiring up and soldering new ends on etc. Think I got one switched around on reassembly.
