Dead

Hi all my mk1 cab wouldnt start the other day symptoms pointed to flat battery so had batt on charge all weekend tonight put batt bk on still nothing completely dead any clues please.

Have you had the battery tested / tried another?

Clean or replace the Battery to Frame and Frame to engine/tranny ground cable.

ignition switch?

Car in Neutral
Parking Brake Full on.
Key switch on not start

Jumper the Solenoid wire to the battery direct, does the starter spin?  yes/no  

Yes Ignition switch

No bad starter ground to engine bad power cable to the starter.
If the Starter Solenoid Picks as goes click but starter don't spin… bad starter.

Start with the basics, stick a multi meter on the battery and see if you are getting at least 12v.

Are there any dash lights, do any lights work, radio?

How old is the battery, does it come with a guarantee usually 2, 3 or 5 years and when did you last run the car?

Is your battery charger working?

Don't want to appear rude Richard but you ask for "clues".
Well as I used to tell my very own customers back in the day when they called me with the same information you have or not given us.
My simple reply would be, "hold it up to the phone and I'll have a look!"

Ok that said but with no information whatsoever 7/10 in the winter with sustained cold periods it's the battery.

Try a jump start. 😉
But let's not start pulling the car apart until we have sound reasons to so! 👍🏼
