Cutting out issue hellllp

Hi my 1985 mk1 gti cabriolet has a few running issues and I am completely stumped now

It occasionally judders when trying to over take on a dual carriageway which is a nightmare in it's self but the main problem is as I approach a round about or slow down to idle a lot of the times it just cuts out, turn it off and on again and it pretty much goes straight away

I have changed the fuel lines both fuel pumps all filters and plugs, cleaned the tank put new fuel in changed the warm up regulator(for a second hand one) but I knew it was working

Any help would be great
Cheers

What is the fuel mixture like? About 2% CO is what you want.

How is the timing?

Idle screw coming lose on back of throttle body?

Some thoughts which spring to mind…..

Hi mark how do I check the fuel mixture

I have changed the cam belt however I had a friend of mine come help me with the timing because I was a little bit out on the distribution pulley and it runs ok for a lot of the time so I would say that is ok could check it again though
And if the idle screw has come lose could that cause it too cut out, I read somewhere there is a little o ring on there prown to breaking is the correct

Thanks

I have just got a print out from my mot and my co level is 1.87% so this seems to be ok the idle screw seems to still be tight and the idle sits still on tick over
