Crankshaft v-belt pulley

Post

Stripping engine to paint block, got the water pump & crankshaft pulleys off ok. My crankshaft pulley looks like it has some sort of plastic/rubber insert which is a bit cracked in places. Car is 1983 tin top 1.8 GTi with the original DX engine.

 1. Is this damage on the insert anything to worry about, particularly if I'm going to get the pulley blasted & powder coated?
2.  Is it possible to buy these new? There are a number of different part numbers listed and I don't know which one I should be looking for.

Cheers
Peter

What you have is a vibration damped pulley - no idea how it works, but the insert will be fundamental to it's damping ability.
Part number, as best as I can ascertain is: 026 105 243 B

Hope that helps.

Hi it is (tvd) torsion vibration damper
it helps to absorbe crankshaft oscillations
modern cars use a dmf dual mass flywheel
tvd is made from a rubber construction
dmf liquid  dense mass to absorbe oscillations
hope i am correct in easy terms

Do not know a lot but willing to help if possible
