Coolant leak-heater matrix?

Have got my centre console out at the moment and noticed slight wetness forming into a drip on the join circled in the picture. I’m pretty sure it’s coolant (tastes of antifreeze).
Has anyone got experience of this-would I be right in thinking it’s probably a leaking heat exchanger?
From the Haynes manual it doesn’t look like too big a job to remove the heater exchanger but is described as fiddly!

Any help or tips appreciated, thanks.

Yep that is usually the cause if your heater hoses are ok.

It is way easier on a non-a/c than an ac equipped unless you take the shortcut….

Thanks Briano, have ordered one up-surprisingly inexpensive even for a Hella one. No AC on mine so fingers crossed it’s not one of those jobs that takes all day!

Your post reminded me of a Joke, the punch line was "Sure glad we didn't step in it…"  Don't ever "Taste things".. if it smells sweet and is slippery than water, or Green it is usually anti-freeze.

Not overly hard but fiddly.

Depends which direction the tabs of the clips are pointing in as there isnt much room to get pliars on them.

If they are facing towards the centre of the car try using a cable tie to close them up enough to spin them round so an angle more accessible with pliers or moles

I did mine recently.
Only thing you may been a 2nd pair of hands with is when you come to put the pipes on the new matrix, helps if someone pushes them through the firewall while you locate them and the clips, unless you are Mr Tickle
