Clipper kit skirts

Post

Hi. Does anyone know how to remove the side skirts on the clipper kit?
Managed to remove the rusty screws from underneath but don't want to pull too hard at the top and break something.
Thanks all..

There's some pop rivets in the front of the kit that go into the arch if I remember correctly.

I seem to recall mine being bonded on as well, so you might need to try and slide a blade or thin screw driver (or trim removal tool) between the plastic and body.

Obviously they also pop under the arch trims so they need to be a bit loose too.

side skirts are hung onto plastic clips along the upper edge.
Undo the screws underneath.
Flex the lower part free away from the underneath.
Now give a sharp upward blow to pop the skirt off the locating clips.

The arch covers are bonded on post 1990 cars.
Plus riveted to the bumper section at the wheel opening.
and screws various under the trim and one into the a clip on the side. Which you will see once the side skirts are off.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

It's the way you shimmy your hips as you remove them that always gets me  O_o

all you need to do is to remove the 3 screws from under the side skirt, the skirt then should just lift up over the 3 or 4 hook clips at the top of the sill

Evening all. Thanks to all for the pointers on removing the clipper skirts. Screws underneath on the drivers side were undoable and rusted beyond recognition and suspected this side would always be worse. After a couple of hours drilling and swearing I managed to remove it.
Back on it today I moved on to the n/s skirt to
find it held on with round plastic discs. Slightly confused I grabbed a screwdriver and levered one out and out popped a Xmas tree clip. GENIUS.. Whoever put those in i thank them. It was a nice snug fit, easy to remove, and no rusty bits.Difference of 5mins to remove one side and 2 hours the other

Forgot to say 10 x Xmas tree clips £1.98p. Screws and plastic expanding nuts from V W Heritage £18.
I usually like to do things by the book but will definitely be using these to refit the skirts as they are so much easier to remove and fit really nice and tight.
They also look pretty inconspicuous as well.
Hope this saves someone some precious time and money in the future.
Cheers. 20170530_121418.jpg 20170530_121433.jpg 20170530_121818.jpg
