1.8 cabby with carb Heater not working

Hi all, first post.

Trying to get my carb Heater working on my 1.8 cabby. It's a Webber carb that never had one fitted when it was swapped but I found an old heater and tried to attach it.

I had to solder a new wire onto it but then I connected it to a spare ignition 12v in the engine bay. When I turned on the ignition it blew the fuse and didn't work.

I recently added the earth wires from the carb to the valve cover, and from the valve cover to the distributor bracket and replaced the fuse, but the same thing happened.

Is it my wiring or could the heater be dead?

Thanks PXL_20240101_125219014.jpg PXL_20240101_125225273.jpg PXL_20240101_125230363.jpg
