Caddy Engine Oil

Got my caddy a few weeks back, sorted the gearbox whine but need to find out what grade engine oil is best for it.

Ive tried searching the forum but can't seem to find much info, it's running a mk2 1.6 gtd engine, I've seen some GTI's are running 10w40 but being a diesel I dunno if that will be ok
