Brake Lights not working

Just discovered my brake lights aren't working on my newly acquired project ,  GTI MK1 Cabby , check all fuses  / bulbs all ok  … what would be my next steps to fault find , cheers all 

theres a brake light switchnear the top of the brake pedal, check that first it may have become dislodged, if it there replace the switch. i had the same when i got my one.
