Bonnet Lifters Bracket...

Post

Im going to fit some bonnet lifter in the new year but heard stories of having to drill wings and remove liners to install? Im sure i've seen brackets that use the wings exsisting bolts But cant find it now - or is there a kit which would replace the wing bolt with the round headed bolt for the lifters?

Ive done this on my T5 and it was easy as you just swapped out bolts - surely this could be the same with the right kit?

Any help apreciated, thanks

I cant help with the exact question but on mk3 polos we used to use mk2 golf boot struts because they were the perfect size.

Measure the required gap and find an OEM strutt of the same length when at its shortest with the same size thread as the bonnet, nut and bolt the other end through the existing wing hole

Aftermarket lifters look cheap and corrode quickly

If you do go with after market ones and you want to use the wing bolts you can.

However

Some mods are needed. You will need to cut down the bonnet lifter and re thread the end, iirc it was about 15mm that needed to come off. The hole in the wing will also need to be drilled out a bit too.

Do a search on the Forum as I asked the qu2some time back and got a decent answer
