Badge restoration

Badges about to be thrown in the bin and £150 on a new set at the ready. However saw a YouTube vid where a chrome pen was used to repaint them, for a fiver thought I’d give it a go. Tbh it’s not turned out too bad!  As it’s drying the paint is flattening, and I can always do some tiny touch ups. 2F6FAD5E-910F-493E-BCF1-BC1C9906346F.jpeg 14AA877B-EE6C-4C31-BFBA-234726FD1036.jpeg

Looks good, I tried  the stickers off eBay and initially they looked good but after a couple of months they peeled so I tried lacquer which made them look terrible, likely to be how I applied it so this looks like a better option so hopefully after a few months on the car and being washed they stay this good.

That's a brill idea. I tried refreshing my badges with some self adhesive 'brushed aluminium look' vinyl - sticking the sheet on the badge then trimming with a new stanley blade.

Result was 7/10 and still looks OK after a year. If I had better cutting skills it would have maybe got to 8/10 but nowhere near as good as the chrome pen! Will give that a go.

Thanks for the tip!

Just finished rest of them, first pass. Might need a bit of touching up when dry. Not perfect but damn sight better than they were! BD88A944-28BD-447B-85EE-E30E92D56EA4.jpeg

I've used a chrome pen on mine about 10 years ago and they still look good, if you get close up you can tell they are not original but step back and you will never know.
