B pillar seals for a 1984 cabby

hi does anyone know if you can get new B pillar seals for a mk1 golf 1984 cabby as been on the werk 34 site and i thing they may be up to a 1983 any help would be great as trying to get all new seals for the car .Does anyone know if there are any UK sites other than VW heritage as they do not seem to do them.

I did not realize there was a difference through the years, maybe drop them an e-mail to check they fit as at £310 for the pair you don't want to buy the wrong ones!

There were 2 styles of "B" pillar seals over the years that I have seen on the Cabriolets, I don't know exactly when the change over was made.

The older style used a closed seal where the seal at the door window edge was circular.

The newer style has a finger seal for the window. which is open on one side. Similar to the "A" pillar where it is a wiper edged seal.

The latest view of the 1984 and 1992 on the ETKA
shows the same part number for them

The 1981 has the same part numbers for the "B" Pillar seals as well.

Most of the bad seals I have seen are because the eccentrics were mal-adjusted and caused the Fame to cut the seal at the top,  But I have seen the door edge chewed as well but that is far from the top being cut.

I know that they come up from time to time on ebay, but I usually watch the Breakers for bit's and pieces.  

I would think that the "83" would work, but I don't know if they are the round over edge (circular) or finger seal type.

ok thanks for the advise i think i will wait and see what i can find out on pictures as unclear. I know it has "84" parts on it even though it started life in "83" as it was made between 2 years.I just need a picture of both types then i will know which is which.

All I have is the newer type, but I have seen the older style on cars that I have replaced the hoods on.



This is the newer finer or wiper version I have stuffed closed cell foam in it to "plump" it up

The older or earlier style is a rounded bead similar to the
boot seal or the hood frame to window seal… I can't describe it any other way sorry.

other thing that differentiates is the newer style have a metal plate about half way up, i assume to help reinforce the seal. the early ones always seem to split at the top of the door, later ones are more sturdy here

My B-pillar seals need replacing, they are this style.
The car is an 1987.




Would there be any issue with changing them for the newer type?

I did a full late seal conversion on my 83 cabrio, doors, B pillar, roof, no problems

I'm currently working in the US for 6 months, will get my dad to have a look for me. Cheers mate!

If in the US have a look here, don't think they do B piller seals but sell other seals you may need?
