Auxiliary Air Valve

Post

Hi,

Having checked the auxiliary air valve I believe it may be faulty.

If the air is restricted the rpm drops noticeably
This with the engine cold to warmed up.

In one of the many boxes of bits that came with the car there
is a spare manifold which has an auxiliary air valve which
I have removed.

Is there any way that I can bench test it.

Would like to know not is working properly before fitting.

Cheers

If you connect 12V to it and look through it you should see the discs move, a spare plug is the best way of connecting it. A lot of cars had this fuel system and the valves look the same but are different internally, some close slower, some have a larger opening to start with etc etc.

Hi,

Put 12 volts across the terminals as you suggested. The AAV was open.

Could not see any movement but left the wires on.

After a few minutes the body of the got warm and the AAV closed.

Disconnected the 12v.
After a few minutes the AAV cooled down and opened.

Does this suggest that it is working ok?

Thanks again for your assistance
