Alternator wiring route.

Post

Hi folks, can anyone tell me or preferably show me some pics of the correct routing of the alternator wiring. It’s a 1.8 auto and there is one wire straight from the alternator to the battery and the blue field wire. At the minute it’s cable tied to the metal coolant pipe across the bottom of the engine.
Thanks Steve.

Just looked at mine and that is how it is run.  And that is one I have replaced….

battery down and across to coolant pipe then behind the radiator shroud to the terminal.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Thanks Brian, just thought it didn't look right. I thought it might run across the top of the radiator shroud. If it's right though I'll leave it alone. Thanks again.

Whilst you're checking wiring check the radiator fan and that it has no chance of going adrift and possibly being caught in the fan. If the metal coolant pipe has been changed prior to your ownership check it's not cable tied as the welded nuts do drop off!!

I have one radiator fan that the connection on the back of the fan is so iffy, that I wire tied the connector to the plug…

Hey Vic, not 100% sure what you mean. My pipe has no nuts welded to it. The wiring is cable tied around the pipe.
