More torque

Hello what's the best way to achieve more low down torque with the ABF engine?what cams? Would a different gearbox also help? Mines running on bike carbs

Place a few shim washers between the front valance and the cup so that it fits tighter to the mount which reduces engine torque.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

It's down to the way the carbs are made i think as much as anything. Trumpet length will make a bit of a difference. Are yours short or long? (  O_o  )

You have a 2 litre engine so you have the size if you ain't getting the torque you want you may need to go with Webers or Dellortos instead as they will give you more.

With the 16v head your also going to be getting your power at the top ens as that's where they give it up.

Changing the box won't give you more torque but by using lower gearing in the first 4 for example you'll be able to use the power band in more gears at lower speeds. Keep a nice long 5th for cruising though.

At least that's what I'm doing. I have a 1400 16v so my torque is useless. I have to rely on it being in the power band but she peaks at 6750rpm!
I have a long box on it and she currently does 62mph in 2nd gear! Not great when you want to go and play as I'm trying to use 1st and 2nd not 2nd and 3rd. I'm getting the gearbox re-built with smaller 1-4 and keeping the long 5th.

When was the last time the carbs were setup?
Id get it checked out and see if its setup right before making major changes, could be sometime simple like your running lean at a certain throttle position, you certainly got plenty of displacment with the ABF, 2.0

Im running a AFH on bike carbs and have recently done the 1.6 bottom end conversion which has made a massive difference  to the low down Torque compared to the 1.4.

Good call madmatt, I do hear that bike carbs need a lot of tuning to keep the running right.
