Which type mk1 cabby 1.8 auto

Hi please don't shoot me down in flames if there's a sticky for this subject I just can't find it.

I have a 1989 mk1 cabby clipper auto 1.8 and the battery has just had it. Looking on eurocarparts and it's showing a 063 but on other sites it's showing 075. Not much difference in price but what one do I need whilst they have a 30% off at the moment.

Thank you.

Go for the larger amp battery, 075.

Slightly cheaper than euro car parts, there sister company. They both do have different discounts amounts most weekends as well, sometimes it's better to wait but not always……………

10% discount with the code OCT10.
 £69.10 delivered.

I would go for the Bosch battery, I've got one fitted to my daily drive and it's been good as gold for 3 years.

1988 Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet 1.8cc DX, K-jet. Daily drive. 317,000 miles and counting
1978 Mk1 Scirocco GLS 1.6cc FR, Webber carb. Weekend toy.

Like Mark said, go for 75 amp and pay the extra for Bosch. 😉
But do have a good shop around for the best deal although you tend not to get much of a discount with Bosch products in general.

Simply because they tend to be the best in this market place but do watch out for overcharging! 👍🏼

Well, if'nt twere me I would co for a commercial grade battery.  You can get them in 1200CCA versions.  You may have to adjust your radiator shroud to fit it.  Years ago when I was rocking a Diesel and the Battery failed to start my Bunny one cold frosty morning….

I took a trip to my local battery distributor, and we found a Tractor Battery that was about 40 dollars more but I went from 660CCA to 1200CCA.  The battery was so wide I had to bend my radiator shroud to fit it, the width was fine but the battery went from the inner fender to about 1 inch in to the radiator shroud.

I worked on Large main frames and as this was my work car I was fully tooled up to make the adjustments on the fly.  :) It is amazing what a 4 oz Ball Peen hammer can do when welded by a mad person of red-headed Irish temperament.

That battery lasted about 9-10 years before it failed.

I currently have a store branded battery, as Bosch has left a bad taste in my mouth for a few years, as in bad plugs, filters, so why but a Bosch Battery that failed in 2 years…  Most batteries have a 3 year LLW warranty.

But if I was still rocking a diesel, I would find a commercial grade unit with more CCA.  My two cents.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

FYI
Bosch spark plugs that are not made in Germany do have a quality issue, this has been known for some years but rarely spoken about by them if at all for obvious reasons. 👍🏼

Why not go out all and grab a battery from one of these. 🙃

Ok fitting, voltage ⚡ price might be an issue but what a great Mod with one of these in your hatch or strapped to the roof! 😂😉

But all joking aside and I'm not sure you can buy these back in the U.K.

Another battery that is popular in Germany and Austria is from the company 'Banner'. They cost about 25% less than a Bosch but generally they only last 3 years. 👍🏼
