020 Synchros

According to Bentley manual the 1st gear synchro ring is different to second gear. First is identified with the missing teeth where my index finger tip is and my pinky finger and then one more missing tooth at roughly 7 o'clock . See photo of ring on the right. (Ring on the left is the replacement I purchased in accordance with the VW website. Rings appear to be identical in size shape, everything except the missing teeth. Photo doesnt quite show that because the sun was a bit shinier on the new ring making it look bigger but its not, its same size as original ring. ) It is listed as item 22 which corresponds to the 014311295E but second gear synchro item 22A is also 014311295E. So my thinking is the rings are the same and after the fact it was easier to just manufacture all the rings as identical rather than a specific ring for 1st?

Does anybody have any info on this or know for sure that 1st has to he different?

And if it is different what is the reason for that?

Also if I need to can I just grind off the three teeth from the new ring and make it same as original 1st ring if required?

Thanks Briano1234. I'll send him an email. I see his website shows the ring with all the teeth being used for 1st gear.

So since nobody appears to know the reasoning behind this I did some further research. Still don't know reasoning behind it but after trolling the bently manual several times I found a little note which appears to state that the original synchro rings with the 3 missing teeth are obsolete so this clear up the answer for me. Looks like can use same rings as the other gears. Part number is same as the rings I used although the 'D' is not, mine were 'E' but I'm thinking the 'E' is just the latest rev of the same part.
