could you please help me solve an argument.my mate reckons his mazda 323gtir twr with its 1.6 16v turbo pushin around 230bhp , stripped out interior and 4wd with a diff lock modded with most mod cons a turbo can have hybrid, intercooler, chip, cam etc etc. will out accelerate midrange and whip my top speed against my stripped mk1 that weights about 775kg and has about 275 bhp of naturally aspirated power with throttle bodies wild cams head mods from an ex caterham 2.0 16v. basically he reckons when he comes on boost he,ll be gone.
but i think when mine comes on cam @4000rpm and pulls like a train untill 8500rpm im thinking different
please tell me what you all think. :?

275 bhp 8O surely that will tear the front off your car   . Bet it makes a nice noise with the throttle bodies. Really the only way to find out is to drag race them - on an airfield obviously. Would have thought your car is a lot lighter, even stripped out your mate still has turbo gear and 4wd to haul around. Having said that when you get into these power figures, you need to be able to deploy the power effectively to use it and 4wd ain't bad for that. Presumably its a heavily modded 323 (by Tom Walkinsaw Racing?), usually see 323's being driven by hairdresser or OAPs

yeah thats the right twr 323 but if you saw it you wouldnt think it was a hairdressers car he has latley stripped the interior and fitted buckets and he reckons its light as a feather yet he knows my golf rear can be lifted of the ground with your bare hands and my power to weight ratio is stupidly high hopfully when finished we will go head 2 head.i think he might cry when i beat him or hell be pissed :banghead:

Yes, it would be foolish to call anything TWR a hairdressers car   . Post some pics of your car, sounds a bit of a beast.

If you can keep the wheels from spinning too much you should take him. His car can't be much less than a tonne. Seeing as yours is only 3/4 the weight with more power, he'll need more than 4wd and a blower to take you in a race.
That said 275bhp in a 775kg car will likely need a fairly trick diff to help you get the power on the road? Thats huge power for such a light car, it must be very lively !!

yeh its got a quaife atb lsd and when im gonna be racing i can even take the bonnet offbut i think im going to need more weight not take it off for more traction of the line its a tricky one to figure
