Wiper splines and leak. Advice wanted
I never take the golf out in the rain but got caught out last week. Splines on front and rear wipers worn and rain finding its way into fuse box and passeger well. Anyone got idea how to fix splines other than fit new mechanism. Any likely areas where water coming in. Cheers Andy

You really need to remove the wipers & check what's worn. As for your water leak, check the rubber grommits in the scuttle are not blocked up with crud, also round the window seal is another common area or even the aerial hole grommit in the N/S inner wing, there's really so many you just need to go for it with a hose. Good luck

You might want to check the scuttle panel drain holes for blockages - when my golf started leaking into the cabin it was filling up the scuttle (great for rust) and seeping through the heater matrix (great for smell). the seal on the wiper spindles isn't perfect either - but there shouldn't be anything major, as the water will/should drip away like any other rain.
