The Mk1 Golf AGM will always clash with another show somewhere in the country.

I know Bugjam is a great show, so is the Mk1 Golf AGM, it's not on the same scale as Bugjam but is dedicated to the Mk1 Golf, with great cars and people

The AGM was announced at the beginning of January, didn't you notice the thread?

Have a good time at Bugjam, I know we'll have just as good a weekend at Uttoxeter, at a fraction of the price

There's too many VW shows, I once counted them all and there's about 40 events over the 'season', that includes the national ones and reasonably well advertised regional ones, not not "general" car shows where VWs might be at.

Basically the big shows split into aircooled ones and watercooled ones. Almost all of the aircooled ones have a reasonably strong watercooled presence too, especially the ones at Santa Pod 1) because its a big showground, well located, and with good facilities and 2) because obviously there's the drag strip there too.

Having been there & done that at pretty much every VW show over the past 15-20 years there's not much that Bug Jam offers that you can't get at other shows - VW Action is similar but usually a better event because its slightly smaller and you're not overwhelmed by the large (100,000 I think, these days?) numbers.

But also its attraction is its so big and so many people there, which pulls in decent music acts etc.

At the end of the day, its your choice - but there's 38 other shows too etc.

I did Bug Jam every year from 1995 to 2006, missed 2007 and 2008, went for the Sunday in 2009 and went to the AGM in 2010. I drag raced as part of the VWDRC from 1999 until 2005, so have seen the show in quite some detail. In the years I've been going I've seen Bug Jam go downhill so much that even when I build my new drag car I'll never race it there. I've had to police the pits with other racers, throwing drunken idiots off the track, off my trailer, off my race car! The worst thing that ever happened to Bug Jam was when they moved the "entertainment" right next to the pits.
AGM for us every time now! :D  :D  :D
