On here we actually do know everything!!
The people on here are much cooler and more relaxed. The general atmosphere on here of 'it's your car mod it how you like (if you like) and if you don't like that's cool too!!' approach is much better.
It's a bit of a mixed bag on here, but, it's a quality and generally very pleasent mix at that! Apart from that dirty beggar with the pickled eggs and the nutter who dresses up as Freddy Mercury the AGMs are top drawer. Or should that be top barby nowadays!!
This is where the real people come!! 8)

I just like the feel of the place and its good to be part of what makes it tick, you do get a different angle being on the committee and being Chairman isn't what most folks think it is.
I will be the first to admit that my Mk1 knowledge isn't the best and to be fair this job doesn't require it.
most of my time is spent sorting people problems out not car problems but i enjoy it and its a good feeling when you work hard to sort stuff out Like the AGM, which was a great success.
I'm very lucky to have a fantastic team of committee members who work behind the scenes much harder than the average member would ever know, which is the way its supposed to be, the average members wants to come here for the same things I did before I became a committee member and to be fair I still come on the site for the same 2 reasons now
1 Fun
2 knowledge
and strictly in that order.

Ive never done the whole 'forum' thing before but when I stumbled across this site while searching to buy a mk1 I just loved it and became a member straight away. Everyone has been nice and its very laid back. The mk1 I eventually bought was from these classifieds as well.
Its very addictive and Im now on here alllll the time, much to the annoyance of my girlfriend.
Thanks people

From the second i joined i had welcome messages which made me feel very welcome and when i become a member me feel more part of the banter than when i was a guest, i don't know why. Since I started going to the MK meets over 2 years ago my enthusiasm and passion for the mach has grown and grown and its so nice to share that with perfect strangers and those strangers becoming good friends, people that without the golf I would have never have met so I have my car to thank for that! The AGM was a real big milestone for me in my opinion, I was looking forward to it anyway but it far exceeded any expectation i had, the laughs! the quotes! the banter! the food! the drink! the people/mates! the atmosphere! the everyone was there to celebrate being part of this brilliant club was just ore inspiring! any one who is debating whether to go or not, you have to come this year! no question!
Now I have this love and this car in my life I never want to lose it. I always want a golf and the reasons for this are endless!! I have to thank guys like Funk-Star and dubboy for their work and the effort they have put in to my car in terms of servicing and knowledge, parts and labour! its saved me a fortune and thats what this site is great for, its realistic and the site and the people understand that not everyone can afford the expense of most cars and their up keep, we seem to be growing and growing, from people from all over the work joining us and keeping the site alive!
As you can probably tell I love this site, much to my missus's gratitude! she doesn't understand my obsession but im glad im not the only mk1 fan that has a moral dilemma when it comes to spending money and spending time with my car! makes me feel alot better.
heres to the club! :notworthy: :punk:

any shows/meet ups going on

The people on here are so helpful and genuine, Never met face to face but hopefully will change when i get to meets this year.
Certain members have there own attritbutes which is fantastic as so many people benefit.
Funk star, seems to always have spares for sale! chortle kindly helped a young woman with her cab roof which is a great example of what people on this site are here for, Rubjonny is full of info and has helped me alot with bits on my car.
I dont have time to go round everyone! but there is alot more.
Build threads are also great.
Although im into the modified side i cant resist a standard gti..any genuine standard golf for that matter
