Which polish!

Which polish!

Don't you just hate buying a new polish and finding that ok it has easy wipe off formula or lasting rain protection etc! When all you want is a polish that leaves your paintwork dazzling without any streaks whatsoever!! Is there such a polish! I read a report in a car mag a few months ago reviewing what must have been about 60 wax's! Suprisingly enough the likes of autoglym and mer failed to impress but it didn't really say if that was in relation to price or not! The best was Turtle wax Rain guard from what I remember….But is it a show and shine winner? Also polishing cloths!! Stockinette leaves bits all over!! Any better cloths out there?? I have used a Halfords fluffy mitten to do a final dust off with great results….Please resist the obvious insinuations as to what I might also do with the fluffy mitten!! So lets have it out in the open! Which wax and which cloths!!  :nerd:

I just use colour magic and normal household yellow duster to finish off. Works ok for me although hardly concourse standard. Cant beat a bit of buffing up and elbowgrease

At the moment I'm on Triplewax metalic, it's ok but I'm still not totally satisfied!  8O

i have found great results by using something called canuba wax, it gives a really deep shine and brings up window rubbers like new. to take the wax off i use a micro-fibre duster gets polish off easy.  a wise man once told me he used his wife's  underwear for polishing ! he said it was the only way of getting his hands in her knickers and his cloth got bigger each year !

I just used turtle wax clearvue and it hasn't been particularly succesful.

I was drawn in by the no white residue bit.

You are supposed to apply, let dry, then wipe with damp cloth, then let dry again, then buff.

It all took so long it started to go dark and I was still waiting for it to dry.

Have to give it another go sometime.

I've been using Autoglyms Ultra Deep Shine and i rate it very highly…. wipes off easy and leaves a streak free deep glossy shine and has a decent wax protection. It's ?11 a tub so it should be good.

If that?s too much money then i recommend Turtlewax original…. requires a little more effort to buff off but leaves final finish is as good as any.

If your a real lazy git like me… then a good one to try is turtlewax wet n wax……. while the car is wet spray it on?..then  shammy off….. miracle stuff!

if i'm really in the mood and feel like going round the car twice i use Autoglym resin then use the extra gloss protection which i find excellent and super slippery.
As for cloths good quality soft old t-shirts etc. my little girl (4) is constantly growing out of stuff so it all gets de-buttoned, de-seamed, de-labeled etc then cut into squares. :)

I'd highly recommend Meguiar's Gold Class Wax. A very deep shine with no smears, and virtually no hassle

It's not cheap (12 quid a bottle) but it does last for ages, and comes with its own applicator pad to put the stuff on. To remove I used Halfords polishing cloth, and I was very pleased with the results…
