which haynes?

hi all,

i have a j reg 1.8 gti 16v clipper and have a number of things to do on it; new roof, fuel pump, electric problems etc and was wondering which is the best haynes manuals to get? i heard to get a mk 1 golf manuel for the structure and the haynes manuel showing the mk2 engine?? is this right or in an ideal world is there one for the model thanks

my daughter bought me from a car boot by mistake a Haynes Max power golf modification guide its mainly for the mk2 but it has the odd mk1 in it.

do you want me to send you a pic of it chudd?

Like to have a read of that one , then if any good add it to the post ?

thanks lads, just missed out on the browny colour one on ebay (the one the covers the vw cab) nevermind will get one sorted soon. Seems to me that the electrics or not right aswell so added a fuel relay to the list is i can here the pump starting when the ignition is on but nothing at all when i try to start it.

Thinking about re covering the seats (white leather and loads of wolfsburg stuff) but best get the engine running first lol, after being in the air cooled scene for a number of years I have learnt one thing a lot of vee dubs have a mind of there own and i take it mk1's are the same.

Made a nice list yesterday so need to start hunting for bargains, first thing to do engine then the new white roof which i got for £80 then comes the fun part the tweaks. Going to try and get some pics up of the start and finish maybe put a blog together like i did for my van, check out www.mitzythecamper.blogspot.com
