A general refurb is about ?50 per wheel. You can do it yourself but you need time and patience as I did the outer rims on my MK4 with some 18" RS4's. Took me 10 hours to do all 4. the kit cost me ?30 from halfords so it was worth it and saved me some money - I can get a photo sorted if you're interested and can explain the process.

The full refub process is a case of stripping the out paint of the alloys and then filling/spraying and cooking the wheels to harden the material. I had them done on my old cavalier once and they came out brand new looking.I might be able to dig out the phone number from the chap who works in Bristol. He even lent me a set of wheels for the week whilst he did mine!

No probs, I will take a couple of photos over the weekend for you when the wheels are clean. The finish on the home made ones is not as good as a full refurb but is still good enough and just requires time and patience.
I'll keep you posted. But let me know how it goes once you decide what to do as I need to refurb my MK1 13"'s and am not sure which way to do them yet!

There's a guy on here called "G6eorge" who does it for a living, if you're interested…

Not sure on prices, but could be worth asking anyway?

What the hell is up with that snail?

Graff in Barc is amazing, loads of styles which you don't seem to get here.

Oh yeah and if they are simple wheels then do them yourself. I did a set of BBS spokes which I wouldn't do again, it's a bit laborious to say the least.

Theyre BBs style ones.. I suppose i can try and do them myself, if i fail i can get them done proper!

Cheers for the help and stuff, i will keep u all posted!

The snail pic is cool, was a little worse for wear at stoopid o'clock in the morning, and me and my mate were playing with our camera phones, the snail is on a tiny bit of grass, and it looks cool!

The graff was taken when i spent a month in Barcelona, doing a work placement, they kinda sum me up, and what barca was like for me

and this is my general expression!

It's a lot easier if you paint the centres and just want the outer rims polished. You just need to keep sanding back the rims using progressively finer grades of wet and dry using plenty water and washing-up liquid (during the final stages) to avoid scratching. It does take ages though (hours and hours). Don't think I had any fingerprints left at the end of it. Had to resort to using a pair of Marigolds as my fingertips were so sore (!)

Here's some I did using this method. Centres painted using Halfords alloy wheel spray cans :

And here's how they started out (strange satin grey finish !)

Good luck with them !

OK here is a photo of one of my 18"'s from my MK4. As m6m62 said the work does take absolutely ages and you need a lot of patience and time when sanding down the wheels. Hopefully you should see the area I've refurbed on my wheels. I only did the rims on my alloys as the colour of the original alloy is quite unique and shiny and the colour from the kit is a little duller - more grey than silver.

If you want any more help on refurbing them yourself let me know, although the bbs alloys you've won look like they'd be quite hard to do yourself cos they're multispoked.

I don't know if it helps, but I had mine done for ?30/wheel. They took off the tyres, de-kerbed them, sand blasted the wheels, painted and lacquered them and put the tyres back on.

The company were Pro Clean Alloys, http://www.procleanalloys.co.uk/
