What would you do?

I want to rebuild my campaign to be as near as standard to possible.

Now from a looks point of view i am standing hard and fast by that.

However, would you upgrade the things that cannot be seen? eg

2.0l bottom end,
upgraded brakes and gear linkage
very understated performance exhaust

Mk1 Campaign for resto

Corrado G60 - stage 4

Mk2 Golf Gti CR1900

Mk2 Gti 8v - 1.8T coming soon

Mk2 2.0l 8v - borrowing off my brother

I'd not touch the engine other than some good gas flowing and making sure it is set up well.

Upgrade front disks and calipers to 256mm

Decent exhaust that looks standard from the rear

That'  my two pennies  :D

The engine will need a rebuild i think, it has done 179,000 miles and is original as far as i know.

The exhaust needs to have a slight note to it, the current sound of the car is, well just a tad pants.

Also thought about the audi throttle body conversion. Would a Corrado G60 inlet manifold fit (if it makes any difference what so ever?)

I would definitely upgrade the brakes - and maybe balance and lighten the bottom end instead of changing it totally? And if you've got the cash, flow the head and add a camshaft too?

I have a thing about performance exhausts, so I wouldn't change it… But that's just me! If you want a sporty note, but want it reasonably standard, you can run it without the middle silencer - there's a guy on here who's done that and is very pleased with the results…

Hope this helps :)
