What MK1
Hi guys, i have been offerd a free mk1 gti cause my mate has run out of space, now heres the problem, i have the choice of theese two:
82 Gti 1.6, Has Sunroof, needs new drivers side inner wing, and work on the rear arches.
83 Gti 1.8, Needs new rear panel, dent in sill, and an aftermarket sunroof.
Advice please :y:

I don't think any car needs an after market sunroof, let alone a classic golf!!

Well, i had a look at them today, The 1.6 is by far the worst, needs welding to bloth sills, floor, arches, new innner wing, and said that he will strip it for spares :cry:
So i'm getting the 1.8 :mrgreen:

Yes ill be cutting the sheet of metal behind the 16's sunroof :y:

i would recamend putting a hole roof on if you can
wen you weld a piece in it warps as it is only thin

i was thinking of spot welding it in on the inside, then fill the gap on the roof, :dontknow:

risky filla cracks, if your having it painted yuo dnt want it messing up if it cracks

The ONLY way to do it properly is to drill out all the spot welds on replacment roof and then do the same with yours, then spend the time carefully replacing one for the other, any other way it will look like the sea, it will be so rippled
