Waterproof car cover help

I have read some posts about car covers, but i wanted to post as I think this is a little different…?
I have looked at Euro spares for a waterproof car cover for the Rabbit. Streetwize do one, and I guess a medium would be about right size wise … Has anyone bought one? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!  :dontknow:
I want to keep it covered on the odd day I dont use the car, but mostly for overnight to prevent water getting in. The footwells are a bit soggy at the moment, so I cut the end off the rubber in the scuttle… Hope that helps too. Sitting on a sttep driveway doesnt help either…  :|

I asked in Halfords re a cover for my 91 Cab, as I'd read somewhere on here that theirs was a good fit.
When I told the salesman he immediately said he didn't recommend the cover as it can promote mould and damp, but my way of thinking is that the cover won't be on for weeks on end, so therefore the roof will be able to breathe throughout the day….I didn't buy one!
I'm the same as you. The car sits outside AND I live on a coastal road so the sea doesn't help much either, but I wash the car regularly….and hopefully I can clear out the garage next spring and get the Cab parked up in it overnight/weekends etc.
I'm interested to know how you get on though.

I ended up reading so much about this subject that I decided not to buy one at all.
I was all up for having one and a good one at that but the advice I had overall was that they can do more damage then good!

I lucky because mine is now parked up for the Winter in an old and I mean old Garage, so hopefully just a darn good clean and polish in Spring.
And that's the general advice I received.

But if you find one that guarantees not to damage the car in anyway, please let me know.  :dontknow:
Good luck.

Mike.  :)

Hi
I just ordered a top half cover from www.Thecovercompany.co.uk from the look on the pictures I think it would pull over far enough to cover top part of bonnet, that might stop the rain going in.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Neil

Thanks for all your help!
Imight just get a cheap one and if its crap then bin it. I dont have room in my garage as its too narrow, so long term I would like to build an awning of some description. I love my Rabbit and dont want her ruined.
Will let you know how I get on.  :D

After a couple it years with blistered and marked paint and fighting the cover blowing off in the wind, I have decided to go coverless. Was going to make my own just for the top but not going to be able to that at the moment.
One thing I wholly reccomend is one of these.
It will keep the moisture down. Hopefully reduce the effects of damp inside the car.
It's intended for caravans, so should work a treat. £17.00 off E bay with 2.5kg of crystals. I reckon I will get around four refills. It states can be left up to four months and holds 5 litres of water. But I will check from time to time.
