VW Dealer Discount

I work in a VW dealership parts dept & would be willing to give discount to any members of the owners club. Would it be worthwhile you guys going to your local VW dealers and and making a list of all the dealers that would give discount to owners club members??? It would be free advertising for the dealers participating.

Well if anyone from the Bromly VW dealership is reading this - you are missing out on a lot of potential spares business by NOT offering a discount

As it stands I'm getting together a big list of parts for my engine and suspension rebuild, and if the price is even close to GSF I would rather get genuine VW bits. A lot of business for any dealer willing to do a reasonable discount. At the moment I'm considering heading out Rich's way to his friendly dealer - thats how desperate I am!!!!

Cheers,

Wayside Milton Keynes. The Parts Centre, not the main dealer. Open until 2pm on Saturdays. Which is nice.

Obvoiusly not a good idea then, i thought it might have been in everyones interests to approach their local dealers and make a list of all the dealers willing to give discounts in the community column or somewhere. Not just a forum discussion which gets forgotten about after a few days.

Kev - I think it IS a good idea. Probably my fault for having a moan in my post rather than being constructive   .

I think the most useful way to do this might just be to have a sticky in the tech section where people can post JUST the dealer details, a contact name, and the sort of discount they get. That way the htread should stay focussed and it is easy to scan through it.

What do folks think?

It wasn't aimed at you Mr Burnett :D  I am always willing to help fellow mk 1 owners and would be willing to sell parts to anyone in this forum but the problem begins with carriage/postage. I can always give discount but as soon as you add on p & p it rules out the discount. I have had letters/phone calls in the past from the likes of Club Gti asking if we would give discount in exchange for a mention in their newsletter/website so i don't see why we shouldn't do it also.

Ah, Mr. Burnett   fear not I hadn't taken anything the wrong way, more just thinking aloud on the best way of formatting something like that.

Continuing the thinking aloud scheme I wonder if it would be worthwhile the club getting setup as a trade customer with VW in the way that garages etc. can.

I think you pay to use the ETKA software, but in the same way a dealer can use the system to look up parts online you can do the same, and then order for delivery. not sure what the level of discount is with this system, or the annual ETKA sub, but might be worth looking into?

I could of course be talking out of my derriere……

Silver Street Motors of Barnstaple, North Devon.

This is my local main dealer - they just gave me 10% discount for mentioning club membership  :) Think the salesman also felt sorry for me for spending ?37 on a few nuts, bolts, washers and bumpstops!
