Volunteers required.....

I've updated the guides and history menu with the sort of things I'd like the site to offer in this category

I've got some of the material, but I wondered if other folks would like to take a stab at writing up some mk1 history and guides, particularly for the non-GTI and cabrio areas as I'm not so knowledgeable on these.

Doesn't need to be beautifully formatted deathless prose, I can format it all afterwards.

Basically anything where there link isn't yet active is required (apart from the campaign bits which I haven't yet transferred from the old site)

So

buying a golf - ins and outs of the mk1 without the GTI perspective
running - leaded or unleaded, 95 or 98 ron ?
servicing - how to, what's required etc
Parts - the wonders of ebay etc, recommended outlets, parts compatability
Insurance - how to, where to go, what to say, classic policy or not?
Documentation - V5, V55, what should be in the owners manual etc
Prototypes - before the golf there was…
The Mk1 Golf - how the golf got going
The Rivals - what else could you have bought at the time?
The adverts - VW press had some cracking adverts, we should comment on them
The Varients - What's a swallowtail, small light, big light, etc etc
The Cabriolet - Why, hows it different/the same to the tintop, who is karmann etc…
Brand new mk1s - something about the citi golf etc
Golfs today - what's it like to run a mk1 today, how does it compare with a modern car?

And any other topics you think are a good idea of course!

You can use the 'submit article' thingy to send in the text. Let me know if you're interested. Full credit will be given to budding authors!

Cheers,

Drew.

Once a Mk1 fan, always a Mk1 Fan...

In the process of doing a Cabriolet topic (construction differences, what to look for, roofs etc), but currently disturbed by a thing called WORK (new project - 2 months solid work needed by yesterday - always the same with these darned truck manufacturers !!!!!!). But it pays well.

Owning a Mk1 cabby is a vertical learning curve…

I'll volunteer for something - erm, not sure what.  Give me a few days and I'll write something sparkling and fantastic for the site.  Don't you worry about it - I've still got it - it never left me!

Seriously though - watch this space…

I'm up to Model Year 1981 of my GTi model history guide. Then I will do a model guide if I get round to it!
