Best thing to do is take it somewhere for full tracking and camber. If you've changed stuff will need checking and more than likely adjusting back to where it should be. Shop around though, I paid £40 last year to have mine done and the day after my mate got someone to do his for £20  :banghead: Both were full laser alignment jobbies  :)

I no longer have the Mk1!! I now whizz round in a Black 1990 3dr Mk2 GTi 8v but the roof doesn't fold back when the sun shines :o

I think it could be my coilover thats bent? hit the rock with some speed! looked under the bonnet at the mounting and it looks fine but not sure. was trying to find somewhere with a jig to check everythings where its supposed to be. thanks for the advise, i will get that done my uncle works at a tyre place, maybe they'll have something? cheers

the top bolt that holds the strut to the hub housing is the one that adjusts the camber.it has a offset washer so jacks the camber in and out.

A word of advice Calvin (from my experience)

I had the camber set to 0 degrees using that camber bolt, and the handling was awful, really washy under cornering load. However, after setting the camber to FULL (roughly 2.5-3 degrees) the car handles really well considering it doesn't have ARBs or low profile tyres.

Although your tyres do suffer as a consequence :|

:dontknow: its all preference of course but if it were my car, put a fair amount of camber on :D

mine is set to 0 and it handles like it's on rails!!!

if anything it's allowing me to go into a corner so hard i'm going to have to fit a duckbill to reduce the understeer a little!!!!

it's not just the tyre that suffers, straight line stability suffers as well, and on a windy day too much camber can make for an interesting ride on our shocking roads lol

X, I would say that you maybe have a problem elsewhere, possibly castor related, as negative castor means you need to run more camber.

theres a bit in the running gear section about suspension set-ups.  It's worth reading.  Or tbf you could play forza 3, as it does a pretty good job explaining it in there lol
