Timewasters

Nothing like advertising a car and a few sets of alloys to bring out timewasters on a Sunday.  Last night I listed my OH's MK3 Convertible (please god someone take it, he should never have bought it in the first place) and 2 sets of alloys.   Being the wise person he is he made sure my mobile number went on the ads as his phone is busy enough with customers (he's a plumber)

So today I put my mobile on and timewasters of the world unite with their questions.  I've had serial texters who send about 15 texts with questions (which are already answered in the advert)  "Oh but I wanted a diesel car" - why bother me then when the ad clearly states its 2 litre petrol.  :banghead:  "It was really a silver car I wanted" - does the midnight blue picture not tell you something?

Then on to the wheels. 2 sets advertised as Volkswagen wheels.  Cue loads of texts "will they fit a Toyota?" "will they fit a Fiesta?". The list goes on and on.  I put in the ad that they are 4 stud but people text to say they really wanted 5 stud.  Seriously why do people bother.  :banghead:

I've just reluctantly listed the 3 set of wheels and am awaiting the influx of nonsense that will create.

It makes me think that ebay isn't so bad after all but being in NI, ebay isn't really an option for a car or wheels.  :dontknow:

Where did you advertise?

Can you tell me the mileage and if it has seats in it…. and is there a round thing infront of the driver that moves from side to side please?

LOL…. only joking… I know what you mean it's nuts, I think either people don't know what they really want or they just want to have something to occupy their time.

Talking of timewasters there is a few on here.  Had a guy who shall remain unnamed for now send loads of questions about several items over the last year and as soon as it gets to me giving him my paypal details he goes quiet.  Never realised it was the same guy until I looked back thru my messages

I've gone for the free options first before I shell out any money.  Car is on gumtree and also sitting outside my parents house (main road) with for sale signs. My brother has sold cars for years that way.  I'll give it until next weekend before I'm forced to part with £70 (or whatever it is these days) to Autotrader.

The 3 sets of wheels are on Gumtree. A guy came last night and was mad keen to buy them but they didn't fit his Peugeot 306 so they continue to clutter up the garage.  Not really that worried about flogging the wheels, it would be just great to get shot of the car.

SOME PEOPLE!! :banghead:

It makes me think that ebay isn't so bad after all

I've just put my bike on ebay and I can tell you first hand that this too is full of idiots. I've had lots and lots of interest but most of which is people giving ridiculous offers. I've had this one guy send me now 7 properly nasty e-mails giving me loads and loads of grief after refusing his cash offer of less than half the current bid - go figure.

I eventually sold my cabby (to my brother who's just signed up to this site) but I had people just come round to kick tyres and say the things like "I'd prefer a black one" or "it's done a few more miles than i'm happy with" etc well eeeerrrrr why are you here then you muppet  gggrrr!

You have my every empathy!

How pleased am I?  :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Tonight I have flogged the MK3 Convertible.  The amazing thing is that the guy didn't even want to test drive it and he paid the full asking price. :cheer: :cheer:

Then another guy came and bought a set of alloys - those awful ones in my profile pic. :cheer: :cheer:  He paid full asking price too.

Tommorow a guy is coming from County Kerry to look at the other 2 sets of alloys.  I've since found that he advertises looking to buy sets of wheels in quantity so he must resell.  He can do what he wants with them if he parts with the cash and gets them out of our garage. :cheer:

Just sold another set which were the original VW wheels from the MK3.  Some chinese man is away home to eagerly fit them to his Daihatsu Charade.  :dontknow:

Just one set to go now.

ebay is bad for sellers being time wasters too! i won a subaru (okay without viewing, fair do's) but after speaking to the guy on the phone twice and him many times saying yes mate its a very straight car….. well guess wot….. it was a right nail…… clutch was nackered, the engine bay and engine sprayed totally black with a rattle can, and it had some dodgy izuzu trooper bonnet vent on. The guy had the cheek to say he was going to take me to court! when i said no deal!

Glad i took my big (i mean big) and slighty mad (tattooed his own palm of his hand, kinda mad) brother. Who after some decidedly choice words with the bloke he kinda decided maybe to let this one drop. lol

happy days!
