well i guess if you got it for next to nothing and you want a big project this is deffo the one. I bet it looks mint when you have finished fair play... :D

True True , fair play on ye old resto point of view , christ tho , that is rotten . Is the shell as bad as some of the pannels ??

Looks like you've got a massive project there but it'll all be worth it - good on you for hopefuly gettting another mk1 back on the road!  :)

yes the filler surround is on a little pissed by the time i'd noticed it was to late i'd welded it in me bad! :oops:

i went to a mates house one day and saw it on a blokes drive. found out he had it for 15 years and half that had been sat on his drive. the floor pan and everything that counts is sound just gone rotten round its self unfortuanally.

the rear drivers side chassis needs some cutting out and re welding in but thats no problem the thicker the metal the easier to weld as i keep blowing holes in the body work which means more welding but i'll get there.

the best thing about it is the 1.6 diesel engine and the steering wheel i do believe it is a wolfsburg german gti steering wheel.  it is actually an import as the reg docs say st registered abroad and i am the third registerted keeper but still she needs a little (lot) of tlc. and the best bit the misses hates it and the son loves it ( hitting it and using my tools anyway)

no my local scrappy had one in with a little surface rust on and a window in so i'm laughing

the guy actually towed it down my father in laws and i never parted with a penney and if you are a tru mk1 lover it dont matter what the condition you still appritiate the beuty just cry at the condition as i did
