thieves almost cost me my mk1 & my life

Last night someone attempted to either steal my wheels or take my life. i left the forecourt of a petrol station noticing a weird noise, so i took it easy and went to pull over when my wheel came off. Luckily the car was saved by my wheel against the arch and only a burst pipe was the result of the drop. All my wheel nuts were missing whilst i found 2 just up the road. I noticed the panel a few inches left where the jack would be on the passengers side, beneath the front wheel panel has detached...??is this a problem that will need sorting asap?would it need welding?iv only recently brought my 1st mk1 golf and want to learn everything so i would appreciate if someone could help out. thanks alot my mk1 brothers

Yup. I lost a full set of brand new wheels a few years back. We think the thieves followed me home, took the wheels (?850 quids worth) and left the car on bricks/their own jack!

The police only came out after i demanded they did! They were quite happy to just give me a crime number over the phone though!

The copper arrived, wandered round my sad looking car laughing(!) and said, "You wouldn't believe the nerve of them would you…."

Thats the closest i've ever come to a criminal charge!!!

It was snowy, so they couldnt possibly take finger prints (despite the thieves smashing the car window, stealing cd's from the glovebox and putting my insurance documents on the car roof for me).

The moral of the story is, if you want to commit a perfect crime, do it in the snow, the police are powerless.

or when there is dew coatings on cars, they can't take fingerprints then either  as we found out when someone nicked stuff out of my flatmates car one night… course there would have been plenty of evidence in and on the outside the car several hours earlier if the polis had bothered to show up sooner before the dew started forming.

glad you're ok mate. get some locking wheel nuts and an alarm system.. next time turn it on at the garage just in case.

BEWARE KY05 UCO, blind and deaf white haired driver of red transit, avoid at all costs, he thinks running cars on to the verge is ok. i'm fine, car's fine, mood and make up not so good.
