the long arm of the law
Do the police need to have a reason to pull you over or can they just do it to pass the time?? I ask because my lass was followed for about 10 miles this morning before being pulled for no reason whatsoever! when she asked why, the copper gave her a gob full about doing a vehicle check and asking if anyone else had been driving her car. He then spent 10 mins inspecting every last inch of the car before just driving away!
Is this normally what you do or was he just bored and killing time before lunch?
cheers.

Sounds like the Officer was obviously in a bad mood or because your girlfriend questioned him, he decided to go over her car looking for any offences, but found none.
I would say that if you give them attitude then expect some grief back. But some are just power crazy and go over the score.

Never been stopped. Was once followed 400 yds (then they pulled off elsewhere) when I was doing road tests with the wideband lambda in the exhaust, maybe they confused it with a flamethrower?
Having been behind you when you 'road tested' your brakes in Penwortham that day when we were going to Blackpool, I'm not surprised they pulled off elsewhere!!!!!
The cops are just like every other section of society, some are total clowns and others are damn good at their jobs. Unfortunately its the clowns that we always hear about and not the ones that do a great job day in day out.
To answer the first question, no they don't need an 'excuse' they can check for document offences, con and use and disqualified drivers etc by stopping you. A vehicle stop can be 'the key to the door' to a whole host of offences such as forgery, theft offences, burglary offences (property in the vehicle) and the actual car can be stolen and not yet reported as such. Imagine how you'd feel if they phoned you and told you that your Golf had been stolen and was already recovered in the compound and the culprits in the cells??
Different attitude then…. thought so!!!!

I say this: limit the use of camera's to outside schools, approaching entrances to hospitals and selected other high population density, concentration of the more vulnerable sites and get the traffic patrols back on the roads.
I once asked the head of one of these idiotic quangos a series of questions - how are illegal firearms transported, how do the gang- masters transport illegal immigrants, how are stolen goods moved around … and so forth. His response "I don't know".
and there you have it….

Now I always heard that Kent Police were pretty hot, so I thought I was in for an for a huge interigation!!!!
The reason they pulled me is because my freinds were not using thier seatbelts and my numberplate lights were not working…..but after pionting this out to me getting my freinds to put their seatbelts on and giving me a mandatory breath test (which came back negative) they proceeded to admire my Mk1 asking me questions about it and having a good look around it (for their pleasure) I was let on my way with a freindly smile and a wave, how polite I thought!!!
So here's to Kent police, what a bloody good bunch of blokes/birds!!!!

The policeman got out of his car as the boy racer he stopped for speeding
rolled down his window.
'I've been waiting for you all day,' the bobby said.
The kid replied, 'Yes, well I got here as fast as I could.'
When he had stopped laughing he sent the kid on his way without a ticket.
A lorry driver was driving along on a country road. A sign came up that
read 'Low Bridge Ahead.' Before he realised it, the bridge was directly
ahead and he got stuck under it. Cars are backed up for miles.
Finally, a police car comes up. The policeman got out of his car and walked
to the lorry's cab and said to the driver, 'Got stuck, eh?'
The lorry driver said, 'No, I was delivering this bridge and ran out of
petrol!'

Whatever you think of Police please please dont make statements like that!!! the absolute morons who they call PCSO`s (i call them something else) stood by and watched that boy drown, not a police officer! when the "real" police officer turned up he dived straight in the lake without a thought for his own safety, thats the difference between someone whos got the bottle to be a copper and someone who would just like to be one!
As for stopping cars….No a "reason" is not required..if its on a road or other public place then the power exists to cause it to stop and check the driver and vehicle or passengers or anything in or on the vehicle or trailor.
Most probably wont appreciate but the amount of illegal, drunk, disqualified drivers, and rung or stolen cars on britains roads is a problem.
Lets change the scenario to a more realistic one shall we?
Your driving your beloved mk1 along minding your own, some unlicenced drunken **** hits you, writes your car off injures you and criples one of your loved ones………how do you feel now? police officers dont have phsycic powers to know whos behind the wheel!!
we are ALL in the same boat and liable to be "stop checked", criminals use cars to commit crime, FACT, if the police dont stop and check people, and it is randomly despite biggoted views, and can be down to time of day/night, driving attitude, speed and any number of tell tale signs or even just to make sure someones alright, all this rubbish about snooker and dinner really is childish pelt.
I do the front line work for Kent police, and very rarely even get a dinner break!!! just remember one thing, the police are there (especially the front line officers) doing the dirty/dangerous jobs, and work at all times of the night and day, i dont expect thanks or praise as its what i like doing, but i expect to be treated respectfully by anyone including criminals, as i would treat anyone i meet doing my job, if you give someone cause to enforce the law to the letter through your ignorance or attitude, when simple words of advice from police would have sufficed then you only have your attitude to blame, some coppers are grumpy! so are some window cleaners or chairmen of the board, dont pigeon hole everyone!! im a smilling assasin
and you will know if you get stopped by me….its probably just to look at you mk1

i have no problem with being stopped at any time because i have nothing to hide. i was just under the impression that the police need good reason to pull you.
