AA Breakdown cover

You can have 5 claims in a year and pay a ?25 excessive but you have to be in a breakdown situation i.e. car over heating (cylinder head gasket) you also have to use a vat registered garage and prove service history on car i.e ( that you have reciept of last service) and the AA will pay you upto ?500 max per breakdown. I only know as I work for them

Slightly off topic but I just had to say I think the AA are great, saved my bacon on a number of occasions not only in the Golf either.

They're always prompt, polite and above all friendly.

AA = 10/10

Indeed, I'll second that.  :y:

I'd have been stuck a few times if it wasn't for the AA (not Mk1 related I may add), well worth the small outlay for a years membership  :D

I have this on my *ahem* 306 and it's done me a treat (insert own joke here about French build quality). I get mine serviced regularly but it's at that age where things are starting to go. Called them out 3 times last year and saved myself a packet on things like power steering pump etc.

If you've got the time, any suggestion of a problem, pull over, give em a call and put your feet up. Just the job.

:D This is great to hear as I joined about 1hr ago as I am off for a 600 mile round trip in the morning and did not want to break down on the M1. Its cheap 2 ?9.50 ish a month for the 2 of us and we have 2 cars so it is worth it in my eyes.....I feel like a fraud as I am a mechanic but i would hate to be hit by a truck whilst I am changing a belt or something....

On the topic of the RAC, has anybody got any opinions on them?

I heard that they weren't anywhere near as good.

I also saw a documentary some yeas ago on how they ripped off motorists by selling batteries when they weren't required!

The AA

Well we try our best, it's nice to be commended and recommended (point of interest the AA has 2700 patrols and the RAC have about 1700 so you should get a better responce time with the AA) The AA also has a market share of over 50% having over 14 million members hopefully not all breaking down at the same time.

Didn't realise so many members here had a drink problem!

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

The only problem I have with drinking, is not being served fast enough!
